Artist Bio

Lisa M. Thomas is a Portland, Oregon native. She has a passion for all art forms including drawing, painting, graphic design, animation, music, dance, and theater. Currently, she enjoys experimenting with collage techniques. Lisa attempts to view everything in the world with an artistic eye, and her art is often personal with a touch of humor. In many of her pieces she tries to incorporate her love of travel, kitschy pop culture and eclectic mixtures of forms and colors.

Lisa finds the collaborative nature of creating unique commissions to be the most fulfilling aspect of her artistic endeavors.

Some brilliant artists who have inspired Lisa include: Romare Bearden, Joseph Cornell, Vincent van Gogh, Friedensreich Hundertwasse, and of course Pop Artists such as Richard Hamilton, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg.

In her spare time, Lisa is an avid collector of toaster/toast-related items and gnomes. She loves to play the piano, eat cupcakes, watch Mystery Science Theater 3000, listen to the comedy of Jim Gaffigan, and read essays by David Sedaris. Lisa is thrilled when she meets a celebrity and has quite the collection of autographs and photos to prove the encounters actually happened. She feels very lucky to have had the opportunities to meet Tina Fey, Patty Duke, and Mel Brooks. She looks forward to her next star-struck moment.
